About Charter-Union

Charter-Union, a premier specialty broker, was established in 1984 and renamed in 1989 to enhance its insurance broking business in Hong Kong. Our origins trace back to a reunion of former Wheelock Marden & Stewart personnel, evolving into a team of around 25 professionals in Hong Kong.

We were a founding member of the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers in 1993 and became authorised Lloyd's Coverholders in 1998, giving us direct access to the world's largest specialist insurance market.

We take pride in serving most of the publicly listed jewellery and watch companies on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and handle the majority of jewellers' block insurance business in Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. Our business diversified into general insurance a couple of decades ago, and we have steadily built a stable customer base through our strong local expertise. We tailor insurance solutions to meet the unique needs of our corporate clients.

In 2022, Charter-Union merged with PSC Insurance Group Limited in Australia. In October 2024, PSC was acquired by the Ardonagh Group, one of the world's largest privately owned insurance distribution platforms, and integrated into its Envest APAC network. This strategic move expanded our global reach, connecting us to Ardonagh's operations across Australia, New Zealand, the UK/Europe, Asia, Ireland, and Bermuda, with combined premium placements exceeding HK$17 billion annually.

While our Hong Kong management team continues to oversee daily operations, the backing of Ardonagh ensures Charter-Union has the resources, expertise and technology to serve clients worldwide and respond effectively to the demands of an increasingly globalised market.
